A tape echo built from reduced-order tape-machine models: magnetic recording with hysteresis memory, geometry-based playback-head losses, and motor/capstan motion for wow, flutter, and drift. Tape delay with motion and character
FerroSway is a tape delay effect for iPhone and iPad, with a standalone app and an AUv3 audio effect.
The iOS version is available first. The Laptop version is coming soon.
Set delay time directly, sync it to your host, or use Tap Tempo. Explore Studio, Worn and Dub characters, multiple tape heads, saturation, wow, flutter, age, tape speed, head bump, compression, drift, hiss, dropout and ping-pong. Use factory presets or save your own sounds.
How the tape machine is modeled
FerroSway uses a reduced-order signal-path model rather than a single delay line with modulation. A record-head driver and coil feed magnetic tape memory with eight play-operator states and a reversible saturation branch. Playback heads use geometry-based frequency-loss filters, while a motor, capstan servo and damped elastic tape span generate shared tape travel for wow, flutter and drift. High quality runs the record and magnetic nonlinearities at 2x with FIR oversampling; Eco uses the aligned 1x path.
Shape the repeat
Choose a delay time by hand, follow your AUv3 host tempo, or tap in a tempo in the standalone app. Feedback, tone and stereo controls help place the repeats in a mix, while ping-pong adds movement across the stereo field.
Find a tape character
Move between Studio, Worn and Dub. Adjust tape age, speed, head bump, compression, drift, hiss and dropout to shape the behavior and texture of the repeats. Multiple playback heads let you build more involved rhythmic patterns.
Presets, standalone and AUv3
Start with factory presets or save your own. Use FerroSway as a standalone effect with an audio input, or load the AUv3 effect in a compatible host on iPhone or iPad.
The app includes a 10-minute active-processing demo shared by the standalone app and AUv3. After the allowance is used, audio is muted for 24 hours before another demo is available. A one-time, non-consumable Full Unlock removes the demo limit. Purchase and restore in the standalone app; the AUv3 extension shares verified access.

ディレイタイムを直接設定したり、ホストアプリのテンポに同期させたり、タップテンポを使用したりできます。「スタジオ」「ウォーン」「ダブ」のキャラクター、複数のテープヘッド、サチュレーション、ワウ、フラッター、経年劣化（エイジ）、テープスピード、ヘッドバンプ、コンプレッション、ドリフト、ヒスノイズ、ドロップアウト、ピンポンなどを探索できます。ファクトリープリセットを使用するか、自分だけのサウンドを保存してください。
テープマシンのモデリング
FerroSwayは、単一のディレイラインにモジュレーションをかけたものではなく、低次元のシグナルパスモデルを採用しています。録音ヘッドのドライバーとコイルが磁気テープメモリに信号を送り、8つのプレイオペレーター状態と可逆的なサチュレーションブランチを備えています。再生ヘッドにはジオメトリに基づく周波数損失フィルターを使用し、モーター、キャプスタンサーボ、およびダンピングされた弾性テープスパンが、ワウ、フラッター、ドリフトのための共通のテープ走行を作り出します。高音質モード（High quality）では、FIRオーバーサンプリングにより録音と磁気的非線形処理を2倍のレートで実行し、エコモード（Eco）では最適化された1倍のパスを使用します。
リピートを整える
ディレイタイムを手動で選んだり、AUv3ホストのテンポに追従させたり、スタンドアロンアプリでタップテンポ入力したりできます。フィードバック、トーン、ステレオの各コントロールにより、ミックスの中でリピート音を自在に配置でき、ピンポンによってステレオ音像全体に動きを加えることができます。
テープのキャラクターを見つける
「スタジオ」「ウォーン」「ダブ」の間で切り替えが可能です。テープの経年劣化、スピード、ヘッドバンプ、コンプレッション、ドリフト、ヒスノイズ、ドロップアウトを調整して、リピートの挙動や質感を形作ります。複数の再生ヘッドを使用することで、より複雑なリズムパターンを構築できます。
プリセット、スタンドアロン、AUv3
ファクトリープリセットから始めることも、独自のプリセットを保存することもできます。FerroSwayをオーディオ入力を備えたスタンドアロンエフェクトとして使用したり、iPhoneやiPadの互換ホストにAUv3エフェクトとして読み込んだりして使用できます。
このアプリには、スタンドアロンアプリとAUv3で共有される10分間のアクティブ処理デモが含まれています。制限時間を使い切ると、次のデモが利用可能になるまで24時間オーディオがミュートされます。買い切り型（非消耗型）の「フルアンロック（Full Unlock）」を購入すると、デモの制限が解除されます。スタンドアロンアプリ内で購入および復元が可能で、AUv3拡張機能でも認証されたアクセスが共有されます。
