Octave freeze reverb

ON’NENIKUR is the most atmospheric branch of the Yukar Series. It treats sustained space as an instrument in itself, where the tail is something to shape, hold, and lean into rather than simply leave behind.

By feeding pitch-shifted material into the reverb field and letting modulation, envelope behavior, and freeze interact, ON’NENIKUR can move from blurred ambience to more deliberate drone-building. It is meant for shoegaze, post-rock, ambient, and any arrangement where the reverb needs to become part of the composition.

Control map

ControlRole
FilterDarkens the reverb return and shapes how bright the space remains
DecaySets the reverb length and, in RISE mode, also influences swell time
MixBalances dry and wet signal
Oct LvSets how much pitch-shifted material is fed into the reverb field
DepthControls modulation depth
RateControls modulation speed
OutputAdjusts the final output level
FIR / OAKSwitches between two modulation characters: chorus-like or phase-like
RISE / FALLChanges the envelope direction of how the space blooms
INST / LINEAdapts the front end for instrument or line-level sources
DARK / LIGHTSwitches the pitch-shift direction for the reverb feed
x2 / x4Selects processing depth for the pitch / reverb path
FreezeHolds the reverb tail as a sustained texture

Suggested starting points

  • Ambient drone: Push DECAY and MIX, choose DARK, and use FREEZE to build a low suspended bed.
  • Shoegaze wall: Raise OCT LV, choose LIGHT, and add modulation depth for a brighter, smeared field.
  • Swell pad: Use RISE mode with moderate DECAY so notes bloom gradually into the reverb space.
  • Frozen texture layer: Capture a phrase with FREEZE and play new material over the sustained tail.

Why ON'NENIKUR stands out

Dual-space octave reverb behavior lets the dry and pitch-shifted layers bloom into a more dimensional ambient field.
DARK / LIGHT shifts the reverb feed by an octave, making the space feel heavier below or more luminous above.
FIR / OAK modulation and RISE / FALL envelope behavior shape whether the reverb breathes, swells, or suspends.
FREEZE turns the tail into a playable texture so drones, shoegaze walls, and held harmonic beds can stay alive under new input.

Held space with pitch inside it

ON'NENIKUR is not just a long reverb. It is built around the idea of pitch-shifted ambience being folded into the reverb input itself, so the space becomes part shimmer, part drone instrument, and part sustained harmonic smear.

Held space, not just decay

ON'NENIKUR focuses on the feeling of a reverb that can be sustained and inhabited. Instead of staying polite or purely cinematic, it leans toward dense layers, blurred edges, and the emotional drag that shoegaze spaces can create.

Where the name comes from

ON'NENIKUR draws from the stark landscape of Todowara and Narawara on the Notsuke Peninsula, where the scenery feels both dreamlike and desolate at the same time. That mix of ghostly beauty and slow ruin informs the plug-in's atmosphere, with FIR and OAK taking their character cues from those two different landscapes.
